About Your Coach
Hi, I’m Robert James, OCD and anxiety coach, psychology graduate, and someone
who’s personally walked the path of recovery. I’ve spent years coaching clients
through intrusive thoughts, compulsions, doubt, and fear, not just with techniques,
but with honesty, compassion, and practical guidance rooted in experience.
This course is built from everything I’ve learned: from proven techniques, from
clients, and from the lived reality of OCD. My approach is grounded in acceptance,
values, and real-life change, not perfection. You don’t need to fix every thought to
live well. You just need the right tools, and the willingness to start.
Course Overview
Week 1 – Course Introduction & The Three Steps
Learn the structure of the program and my 3-step method for interrupting the OCD cycle. We’ll begin practicing a different response to discomfort and rumination.
Week 2 – Limiting Beliefs & Reclaiming Possibility
Identify the subconscious stories keeping you stuck. You’ll craft a personal mission statement and begin shifting from limitation to possibility.
Week 3 – Feeling Anxiety in the Body & Anchoring in the Present
Rebuild your connection with the body as a way to break the overthinking loop. Includes simple grounding tools and a body-based meditation.
Week 4 – The OCD Cycle & Managing Rumination
Understand how OCD pulls you into problem-solving mode. You’ll learn tools like defusion, attention shifting, and creative strategies for rumination.
Week 5 – Self-Compassion: Walking the Balance Path
Balance discipline with kindness. Learn how to speak to yourself with courage and care — and why this reduces shame and strengthens change.
Week 6 – Values, Goals & Commitment to Your Path
Clarify what truly matters to you. You’ll identify values, set meaningful goals, and begin making choices aligned with your direction — not OCD’s.
Week 7 – Exposure & Leaning into Discomfort
Learn how to approach exposure in a way that supports long-term recovery. You’ll design your own exposure plan rooted in your values. Includes bonus content for designing and troubleshooting exposure sessions.
Week 8 – Cold Exposure for Resilience & Acceptance
Explore how cold can be a metaphor and training ground for OCD recovery. It teaches you to stay present and breathe through discomfort, not escape it. Includes optional bonus video on adapting cold exposure to your lifestyle.
Week 9 – The Island Within: Cultivating the Observing Self
Discover the part of you that notices without reacting. Includes the Island and the Storm activity and a present-moment awareness practice.
Week 10 – Contrast: Learning Through Opposites
Learn to recognise progress by feeling the difference. We’ll explore contrast — between reacting vs choosing, compulsions vs values, fear vs presence.
Week 11 – Navigating Setbacks & Recommitting
Setbacks are normal. You’ll learn to track patterns, use a resilience plan, and recommit to your growth without shame.
Week 12 – Abundance, Gratitude & Living Beyond OCD
Zoom out and reflect. What’s changed? Where are you going? We’ll explore gratitude and abundance as tools to sustain recovery and live more freely. Includes a bonus guided journaling exercise for closure and integration.
Our Commitment-Based Guarantee
What this guarantee is
This program is designed to create change through behavioural reps and response training, not reassurance or symptom checking. If you fully engage with the early momentum phase and are not seeing clear behavioural shifts, I will provide additional personal support.
What must be completed to qualify
Clients must complete both components in full.
A. The Map (Baseline + Review)
The Map is completed:
- Once at the start (Day 1)
- Once at the end (Day 10)
It is a 2–3 minute snapshot, not detailed tracking. The Map includes exactly these 6 fields:
- Minutes lost to OCD per day (average of last 7 days)
- Urge to do compulsions (0–10)
- Monitoring / rumination intensity (0–10)
- Avoidance level (0–10)
- Confidence in responding differently (0–10)
- One-sentence sprint goal (“In 10 days I want to…”)
B. The 10-Day Momentum Sprint (Evidence required)
Clients must complete the sprint as designed, including:
- Daily Gap & Gain journalling
- Daily response / exposure practices outlined in the Sprint PDF
- Use of the Three Steps / response training
- Posting behaviour-based wins to the Wins Wall (where applicable)
- Completing the sprint without progress-checking or reassurance-seeking
What counts as “clear behavioural shifts”
This guarantee is not based on feeling calm or symptom reduction. Examples of acceptable shifts include:
- Reduced time spent engaging with OCD
- Faster recovery after triggers
- Greater willingness to allow sensations or thoughts without fixing
- Increased confidence in responding differently, even with discomfort present
Evidence requirement
To activate the guarantee, clients must be able to show evidence of completion, such as:
- Completed Map (Day 1 and Day 10)
- Gap & Gain entries
- Sprint tracker or notes
- Wins Wall posts
- Written reflections showing daily reps were done
What happens if the guarantee is activated
If all conditions above are met and clear behavioural shifts are not present, the client will receive two additional 1:1 coaching sessions, free of charge. These sessions will be used to:
- Identify blocks to progress
- Refine response strategies
- Personalise the work more precisely
What this guarantee is not
- Not a refund
- Not available if the sprint or map is partially completed
- Not based on anxiety levels or symptom presence
- Not available if the process is modified or skipped

What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t work?
That’s more common than you might think. Many people come to this program after feeling frustrated or misunderstood in therapy, especially when OCD hasn’t been properly recognized or addressed. Break Free from OCD is different. It offers practical tools, structure, and guidance that speak directly to the patterns that keep OCD going. You’ll learn how to respond to intrusive thoughts and compulsions in a way that creates lasting change, at your own pace, with support when you need it.
How is this different from traditional therapy?
This isn’t therapy, it’s coaching, education, and action. The program gives you a structured roadmap based on evidence-backed strategies, real-world experience, and practical tools you can apply right away. It’s also personal. I’ve been through OCD myself, and I’ve coached hundreds of people who’ve felt stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless. This program helps you get unstuck, not just by talking about OCD, but by giving you the tools to take your life back.
Is this program right for me?

It’s for people who want a clear path forward, real tools that work, and support from someone who truly gets it. Whether you’ve been struggling for years or have just been diagnosed, this program will help you take meaningful steps toward freedom and peace of mind.
