What Past Clients Are Saying

I first discovered Robert through his podcast on Spotify, and I found it incredibly helpful. Eventually, I decided to book some sessions with him. He helped me manage my anxiety and OCD so that I could regain my confidence. He recently also launched an online course that makes the content of his podcast even more actionable with practical steps for real progress. I can’t thank Robert enough for his guidance and support in my OCD journey! 😊

Rebecca

Rob comes across as extremely natural and, as many others have said, it is nice to learn from someone with a somewhat similar experience. I’ve been meeting Rob weekly for the last 2 months and it has been really helpful. I particularly appreciate that he comes with focus for the sessions and gives really good ‘homework’ I can use in the week. I believe he is a good blend of sharing insights while offering reassurance, which is key! Thanks so much Rob!

Laura O'Callaghan

I found Rob to be a very unique coach within the field of helping people with ocd and anxiety. I personally had a few sessions with Rob which helped me get started with erp for ocd (especially sensorimotor theme… Which is so hard to come across when getting help with this particular issue). He is very compassionate, understanding and relatable. His podcast is something which I have gained so much knowledge from and put a lot of his suggestions in to practice. I would 100% you listen to the podcast and even request some personal coaching if you are struggling.

About Your Coach

Hi, I’m Robert James, OCD and anxiety coach, psychology graduate, and someone who’s personally walked the path of recovery. I’ve spent years coaching clients through intrusive thoughts, compulsions, doubt, and fear, not just with techniques, but with honesty, compassion, and practical guidance rooted in experience.

This course is built from everything I’ve learned: from proven techniques, from clients, and from the lived reality of OCD. My approach is grounded in acceptance, values, and real-life change, not perfection. You don’t need to fix every thought to live well. You just need the right tools, and the willingness to start.

Course Overview

Week 1 – Course Introduction & The Three Steps

Learn the structure of the program and my 3-step method for interrupting the OCD cycle. We’ll begin practicing a different response to discomfort and rumination.

Identify the subconscious stories keeping you stuck. You’ll craft a personal mission statement and begin shifting from limitation to possibility.

Rebuild your connection with the body as a way to break the overthinking loop. Includes simple grounding tools and a body-based meditation.

Understand how OCD pulls you into problem-solving mode. You’ll learn tools like defusion, attention shifting, and creative strategies for rumination.

Balance discipline with kindness. Learn how to speak to yourself with courage and care — and why this reduces shame and strengthens change.

Clarify what truly matters to you. You’ll identify values, set meaningful goals, and begin making choices aligned with your direction — not OCD’s.

Learn how to approach exposure in a way that supports long-term recovery. You’ll design your own exposure plan rooted in your values. Includes bonus content for designing and troubleshooting exposure sessions.

Explore how cold can be a metaphor and training ground for OCD recovery. It teaches you to stay present and breathe through discomfort, not escape it. Includes optional bonus video on adapting cold exposure to your lifestyle.

Discover the part of you that notices without reacting. Includes the Island and the Storm activity and a present-moment awareness practice.

Learn to recognise progress by feeling the difference. We’ll explore contrast — between reacting vs choosing, compulsions vs values, fear vs presence.

Setbacks are normal. You’ll learn to track patterns, use a resilience plan, and recommit to your growth without shame.

Zoom out and reflect. What’s changed? Where are you going? We’ll explore gratitude and abundance as tools to sustain recovery and live more freely. Includes a bonus guided journaling exercise for closure and integration.
